NIGHTED Introduces: Kate Fobert

Who are you?
I am Kate Fobert/ @dadpuns / katefobert.tumblr.com. I am a 25 year old woman, currently living in Vancouver, BC. I moved here 4 months ago from Toronto, where I was living for the last 5 years. I am a lover and a fighter. 

What do you work hard at?
I work hard at everything I do. At least, I try my hardest. Especially having fun. If you’re not having fun, what’s the point. That’s why I started taking photos actually, I started getting disposables (thanks Mom and Dad!) when I was in grade 8 and I would run around taking dumb/candid pictures of my friends. Film is the best for that, the whole process is fun. 

What do you see out your window?
I’m currently at work. Where I am a dispatcher for a courier company in Vancouver. We’re located in the basement where the underground parking is. So sadly there aren’t any windows. I have two more hours left in the day, then hello daylight! 

What is the best gift you ever got?
I’ve received way too many awesome gifts in the past 25 years. Mostly from my parents, which I never deserve. They really are the best! The best gifts I’ve gotten have all been surprises, or awesome letters/postcards. There is one gift I got from one of my best friends, Nicole, before I moved to Vancouver. She had a key chain made of the “nothing was the same” Drake cover picture with her face and my face floating in the sky. It’s hilarious and great! She also bought me this anime porn magazine from Japan when she was there, it’s wild. 

If you could take a trip anywhere, where would you go?
Either Japan, San Francisco, or Texas. I’ve always had a weird obsession with Texas. So going there would be pretty great. I’ve only been there for a flight connection from Mexico to Toronto. It was awesome, even though I never left the airport. Those accents get me every time. 

Why do you live the way you do?
I live the way I do because that’s how I was raised. My parents raised me to be happy and work hard. I’ve had some challenges, and it’s never been easy. All that matters is if you are happy and you are giving 100% at everything you do. As my dad would say “there’s no such word as can’t”. I also wouldn’t be living the way I do without my friends. They inspire me everyday, and they’re all the best people. Every one of them is different in some sort of way, and I love it and them. 

What are you looking forward to?
1) I’m working on a book with my friend Devin White (cheffers.tumblr.com), which will be pretty great!
2) I’m going back home to visit, also returning to Toronto, MTL, and NYC, at the end of August for a few weeks.  
3) I’m really stoked to be working with Nighted more in the future! 
4) Anything and everything! 

2014 has turned out to be pretty cool.
